Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study in men with prostate cancer and rising PSA: effectiveness of a dietary supplement.
European Urology, 2005 December, 48(6):922-30
Epidemiological studies have shown people who consume certain types of foods, such as soy, tomatoes and fruits have lower prostate cancer incidence. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a dietary supplement, consisting mainly of soy, isoflavones, lycopene, silymarin and antioxidants on the levels of prostate-specific antigen on 49 patients with a history of prostate cancer. The specific soy-based dietary supplement showed a significant delay in prostate-specific antigen progression.
